Tax Bracket Racing -- Super Street 1987 Ford Thunderbird
The Tax Bracket Racing purchased the 1987 Ford Thunderbird formerly run by Vinnie Cicerale for competition in Super Street for the 2004 racing season and beyond. After a successful 2006 campaign that ended with Vinnie finishing 2nd in the Division 1 Super Street points standing, the car had an untimely end after a high-speed encounter with the concrete retaining wall at Atco Raceway in 2007.
The tube chassis car was powered by a 467 cubic inch big block Ford engine, which had pushed the car to a best run of 9.63 seconds at upwards of 135 miles per hour. It was mated to a Ford C4 three-speed transmission that got shifted twice down track. The combination was good enough to propel Vinnie to a runner-up finish in Division 1 Super Street points in 2006 as well as to a runner-up finish in Super Street at the 2006 LODRS event held in Richmond, Virginia.
Thanks to a Biondo Racing Products Mega 450 delay box and a Dedenbear throttle stop, the car was slowed down to run the 10.90 index required for Super Street. While the car is now gone, it will never be forgotten.
