Tax Bracket Racing -- Street Eliminator Monte Carlo

Tax Bracket Racing’s 1981 Chevy Monte Carlo has had a storied history since first used by the team in 2002. Following an off track incident with the team’s 1968 Chevy Nova, Frankie completed the 2002 Island Dragway points campaign behind the wheel of the car. In his first weekend with the car, at the time powered by a 350 Chevrolet, Frankie scored a win in Street, and the rest, as they say, is history. Frankie took home the Division 1 Street Eliminator Championship with a victory at the Bracket Finals, before losing in the first round at the NHRA Finals.

Lightning struck twice the next year as Vinnie, in his first year behind the wheel of a full size race car, drove the Monte Carlo to a seventh place points finish in Island Dragway Street points, the 2003 Division 1 Street Eliminator Championship, and the 2003 NHRA Sportsman World Championship.

The 2004 season saw the Monte Carlo with a different power plant under the hood as a 358 cubic inch Chevrolet topped with aluminum heads and a 750 cfm Holley carburetor worked over by carb whiz Don Garbinski was installed. A Dynamic Transmissions Turbo 350 transmission and Dynamic 10 inch converter that transfers the engines power to a 12 bolt Chevy rear spinning 4.11 gears backed the engine. The car rides on Hoosier Quick Time Pro tires wrapped around Centerline wheels. The car ran a best of 11.70 at 114 miles per hour as Vinnie drove it to a second place points finish in Street points standings at Island Dragway in 2004 and the Street championship in 2005.
