Tax Bracket Racing -- Super Pro/Pro Eliminator 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS396
The newest addition to the Tax Bracket Racing horsepower stable is the 1969 Chevelle SS396 picked up by the team’s patriarch, Frank A. Cicerale. Soon to replace the car that started it all, his 1965 Chevy Nova, Frank is in the process of turning the Chevelle into his new steed.
The car currently packs a 468 cubic inch big-block Chevy that has powered the A-body to a best lap of 10.79 seconds at 126 miles per hour. Gulping a healthy dose of alcohol, the Rat is topped with a killer set of ported aluminum heads and a Holley Dominator carb. A Turbo 350 three-speed automatic and a 5,500-stall converter back the 600-plus horsepower mill. Out back lies a GM 12-bolt rear stuffed with Strange goodies and a set of 4.88 gears.
While final plans have yet to be agreed upon, initial changes call for converting the powerplant over to racing gas, as well as a complete look-over from front to back. Look for the car to hit the Numidia Dragway quarter mile by the end of the season.
